Sir William Inn – Peak District National Park

A Warm Welcome

The Sir William Hotel is an original 18th century stone inn set in the beautiful Hope Valley in The Derbyshire Peak District National Park. The hotel was extensively enlarged in the late 19th century when the railway arrived in Grindleford and the name was changed from The Commercial Inn. The railway still runs between Sheffield and Manchester with direct access to Edale and the Pennine Way. The hotel is an ideal base for exploring Castleton, Ladybower, Longshaw, Haddon Hall, Bakewell, Chatsworth House and many more. We are close to Stannage edge for excellent climbing and for those less experienced we are walking distance from Froggat and Curbar edge with many interesting smaller rock formations. If you prefer walking, running or cycling we border the National Trust estate of Longshaw and the Monsal Trail is nearby.

The hotel now has 8 en-suite bedrooms, a restaurant, traditional bar, function room for larger events or courses and a beautiful terraced garden over-looking the Derwent river valley.

We are pleased to host Beyond The Edge outdoor training courses at the hotel. Please click the link to go direct to their website for course details
